Laurel (Cordia alliodora), also known as Freijo, is a walnut-like wood made of Central America, there are many occurrences in southern Mexico as far as Brazil. Also in Surinam there are stocks, there the wood is known as Wakatrang. The wood is medium-heavy, (approx. 650 kg/m3) medium-hard, its characteristics are very similar to those of walnut, the colour of the heartwood ranges from light yellow to medium brown, sometimes with darker stripes. The lighter heartwood components are usually not clearly separated from the sapwood. Freijo is known under a lot of common names (e.g. Laurel Blanco) and is an related to the better known woods Bocote and Ziricote. Its appearance is often compared with teak or walnut, although it has no direct botanical reference to either. It is used for general carpentry, doors, furniture, interior woodwork, windows, high-quality furnishings, woodturning and musical instruments.----------------------------You will get the depicted blank.
