Tineo (Weinmannia trichosperma) is an evergreen tree from the western Patagonian rainforest of Chile. The tree, which grows to a height of around 30 metres, has a decoratively heartwood that is reminiscent of the colour of fruit trees. This colour and pattern gave it its completely misleading trade name "Indian apple tree", which, as always with timber merchant prose, has nothing to do with the truth - a pure fantasy name. Introduced to Europe only a few decades ago, the wood has gained a firm place in the product range due to its decorative appearance as a veneer with its warm colours and dark veins. The wood is characterised by a variety of vibrant colours, ranging from a rosy pink to an elegant deep red to a soft orange-brown, often with impressive contrasting black stripes. The grain is straight to slightly wavy, it is practically non-porous with a beautiful natural lustre. Drying is very difficult, the wood tends to warp and warp - but these pieces have been dried for at least 10 years. The wood is quite heavy (approx. 700 kg/m3) and hard, but easy to work with.
