Spanish Cedar, Cedro
Intensive overuse has made this wood a rare commodity - good qualities have hardly been available for years. However, much of the alleged Spanish cedar offered on the market, especially in online shops, is often not at all spanish cedar but strong scenting juniper wood (Juniperus procera) from Africa, the USA (Juniperus virginiana) or something else usually strongly fragrant wood that is offered fraudulently. Also African mahogany species like Khaya, Sapeli, Sipo, Tiama, Okume, Doussie or Gabon are sold as Spanish cedar! This wood ruins expensive cigars forever by strong smell. It is as always in the economy: You get what you pay for.
