Tauari (Couratari oblongifolia) comes from tropical South and Central America, where the large trees reach heights of up to 50 m and form a mostly straight, flawless trunk. Like most South American woods, its wood is hard and dense, weighing approx. 800 kg/m3. The heartwood is light brown to pinkish brown and has scattered resin ducts, which can appear as dark stripes in the grain pattern. The sapwood is significantly lighter in color and difficult to distinguish from the heartwood. The grain is straight, sometimes with slight interlocked grain and a fine to medium-coarse texture. This wood has a wide range of applications, from utility poles, terraces, house construction, and interior design to furniture, parquet flooring, and woodturning.
