Marblewood (Marmoroxylon racemosum), also called Serpentwood or Angelim Rajado grows in Guyana, Surinam on the north coast of South America. The Heartwood is yellow-beige with maroon to black wavy streaks, which gives the wood a coarse marble-like appearance, it looks very distinctive like no other wood. Due to the limited number of trees found in the tropical rainforest, its availability is small, thus the wood belongs to the expensive and scarce species. The wood is very hard and dense, rather heavy and very decorative, it is used for Knife handles, guitars and woodturning purposes.
