Linden trees (Tilia spp.) cover nearly all European countries and form one of the most known species of trees. Their wood is seldom used by craftsmen, although it has really excellent characteristics other wood would like to have: no shrinking, warping, cracking and dimension stability are the most important advantages. Sculptors prefer this wood due to its good features. Burls of linden trees are really very attractive, showing narrow and dense figure, but are due to their weakness seldom used only. As is usual with almost all burl woods, defects such as bark inclusions, cavities, holes gum pockets and small drying cracks can occur, which can be easily and quickly filled with a drop of superglue.
