Wacapou, Brownheart

Wacapou, also known as Brownheart (Vouacapoua americana) comes from a tree that grows in Brazil, Surinam and French Guyana and produces a very durable, hard wood. The colour of the heartwood ranges from light brown to chocolate or reddish brown, clearly set off from the light sapwood. The wood is often finely figured and textured, with a fine lustre effect and beautiful surfaces. Wacapou is used throughout its natural range for both useful and aesthetic work. It is a rarely traded wood and attractive for almost any object!
