American black walnut trees (Juglans nigra) naturally grow in the eastern part of north America, their wood is usually much darker than that of European walnut trees. The heartwood is dark, streaked and straight grained, sometimes showing a bluish hue, the sapwood being grayish to yellow coloured. Quite commonly American rootstocks were grafted with European scions for more fruits, on these parts of the mature stem sometimes large burls grow, that develop beautiful and most decorative wood, that is highly prized for car interiors, furniture and handicrafts. A huge long and heavy slab of black walnut with some patina on the surface and beautiful natural color on the underside. The slab is 3.20 m long, 67 cm wide and a massive 50 mm thick! It weighs approx. 75 kg and is waiting for the right moment and the right buyer. Upon request we can also run the panel through our wide belt sander to achieve a perfectly smooth and clean surface.
