Honduras Rosewood (Dalbergia stevensonii) comes from central south America, Honduras and is as all genuine rosewood very heavy and hard, showing a typical rosewood structure. The colour varies greatly depending on the area in which it was grown: from pink to salmon red, it ages to beautiful dark red, sometimes even showing blueish to violet shades. The wood is structured by dark, nearly black irregular grain lines. Honduras Rosewood is highly regarded for furniture and musical instrument makers (xylophone and guitar) for its beauty, strength and its tonal quality.
Honduras rosewood has a very broad color spectrum ranging from pale light brown-reddish to dark purple. The product photos show examples from the middle of the color range, but these colors are not necessarily binding for the delivered items.
