African Padauk (Pterocarpus soyauxii) comes mainly from Western Africa, Cameroon and is well known to the European market for more than 50 years. The wood is hard, dense, heavy and shows a vibrant bright red colour, that is always a surprise by its clear, fresh and brilliant appearance! Due to its great tonal qualities (Padauk has a very bright and sustaining sound) it is used for a lot of musical instruments and for fine turned objects. The wood works very well and its bright colour should be protected against ultraviolet rays.
