Sapeli mahogany (Entandrophragma cylindricum) comes from the Meliaceae family and is therefore a mahogany wood. Sapeli grows on the equatorial west coast of Africa, Ghana and the Ivory Coast are typical growing areas. Wonderful piece of really perfectly figured sapele pommelé in real AAAA quality! Hard to find, this rare and astonishingly three-dimensional growth abnormality occurs in one in 1000 logs! The 3-D effect is greatly intensified by staining. The wood is freshly planed and darkens quickly and strongly in sunlight!
