Bulletwood, Bolletrie (Manilkara bidentata) comes from the Caribbean and south America, especially via Paramaribo it is exported from Surinam in large shippings all over the world. The tall tree reaches up to 40 meters height and ca. 1 meter diameter, its wood bears countless synonyms in all its countries of origin like Beefwood, Balata, Chicozapote, Massaranduba, Ausubo are known. The heartwoods colour is light to dark reddish to brown-red, it has a dull appearance and is very hard and dense (ca. 1100 kg/m3) and is in use for nearly all purposes like heavy construction work, houses, bridges, railway sleepers, furniture, tools and instruments. The wood has a remarkable durability against decay that makes it suitable for nearly any purpose. These blanks come from an 20 years old stock and are thoroughly dried.
