Brown mallee burls (Eucalyptus dumosa) come from the southwestern coastal regions of Australia and are mostly found in the goldfield region, where a lot of very similar looking burls come from. Mallees form multistemmed small woody plants, that grow in a semi arid climate and tend to produce finest burl wood on their stems. These burls can be harvested without heming the trees, thats why Aussie burls are always sold as burl caps. Those coffe coloured burls show very dense and heavy wood with finest burl figure and are highly appreciated by woodworkers.
