Makamong, Craib wood (Afzelia xylocarpa) comes from SE-Asia (Thailand, Burma, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos). The trees grow up to 30 m height and can reach up to 300 years age. Their wood is highly esteemed for its durability, strength and decorative look, it is used for really all purpose from construction work, floorings to fine furniture.
The very hard and dense heartwoods color ranges from orange -red to golden red and very much resembles amboyna.
Especially rare is this trees burl wood, this wavy interlocked wild grain figure is highly prized for fine woodworking but hard to find on the market.
