Coromandel, Makassar at its best!

Sometimes you just have to be lucky and be in the right place at the right time: these incredible blocks of finely grained Makassar Calamander have recently come my way. For a long time now, well-grained Makassar has been extremely difficult to get on the timber market, and often it is only very narrow planks that can be bought at halfway normal prices. Such blocks with a diameter of almost 30 cm are an absolute exception, and splitting these large blocks, which were hewn a long time ago, on a band saw was a thrilling experience. As the pictures show, the result was better than we could have expected with a lot of optimism; such perfectly grained and almost completely crack-free Makassar wood is rare.
