Zebrawood (Microberlinia brazzavillensis), also called Zingana, is a tree which grows in West African forests in Cameroon and Gaboon. The trees reach up to 20 m in height and appr. 1 m in diameter, producing long and straight logs of beautiful and unique texture. The wood has a bright golden yellow heartwood with straight parallel streaks of dark brown to black colour. The dark and light bands give a zebra stripe look, accounting for the name and also making it easily recognizable among hundreds of different species! Zebrawood has become more and more expensive during the past 20 years, as demand continues to oustrip supply!
