Stabilized piece poplar burl (Populus nigra). High quality stabilization processing, thoroughly dyed prussian blue and stabilized by Plexiglas®, giving the piece a very strong but flexible toughness. Easily to be worked with sharp tools. The stabilization is perfect, no water will be collected even after hours of soaking or watering.
Poplar trees sometimes develop irregular abnormal trunk growth forms with hundreds of burls scattered all over the trees stem. This results in very attractive wood texture, the curly grain looks like silken fabric dropped on a surface, changing colour from any angle you look at it. The naturally creamy white coloured wood is covered with nests of brown to reddish brown knots, extremely beautiful with turned objects! Small holes, hairline cracks, gum pockets and bark inclusions as common with all burls may occurr even in stabilized wood, especially in Poplar burls. They can be filled easily and quick with thin super glue, synthetic resin and some dark saw dust if necessary.
