The pear tree (Pyrus communis) is common to nearly all regions of middle Europe, its one of the most beautiful domestic timbers. The trees grows up to 15 m in height and 80 cm diameter is not unusual. The exceptionally fine, smooth and even texture make this very dense wood ideal for all fine woodworking, it is perfect for carving, turning, ornamental objects and pens. The color of non steamed pear is very nice, bright pale golden yellow, steamed the wood takes the more familiar much darker reddish color. Often appear fiddleback growth, flaming, marrow spots or a beautiful purple-black false core!
