The lemon tree (Citrus × limon) is an evergreen tree of the citrus genus (Citrus sp.), the breeding of the varieties of lemons known and still cultivated today probably originate from crossbreeding between bitter orange (Citrus × aurantium) and citron (Citrus medica), which may have originated around the year 1000. In the German-speaking world, the word 'Limone' was also a common name for lemon, and in Austria it is still partly used today. The term lemonade originally referred in the French language to a refreshing drink made exclusively from lemons.Due to common basics, the wood of lemon trees also strongly resembles that of orange trees; like the latter, it is very light, pale yellow to almost white, very fine-pored, firm and dense. The bark of older trees, on the other hand, is much thicker, more furrowed and coarser, unlike that of orange trees.
