Chilean Laurel (Laurelia aromatica) is a large evergreen tree endemic to central Chilean rainforests, where it grows up to 30 meters. The trees bright green leaves, the  smooth, pale bark that cracks with age both contain highly aromatic oily ingredients, that made these parts of the tree worthy for the Incas, they used it as medicine and spices in a wide range of purposes. The medium hard and light weighted wood shows colours ranging from pale bright grey sapwood to silvery greenish heartwood, that may also reach darker silver greyish tones. Working on this wood is a real pleasure due to its highly pleasant smelling aromatic oil content- unfortunately these cavities have to be filled with putty or super glue and sawdust. Small holes, hairline cracks, gum pockets and bark inclusions as common with all burls may be filled easily and quick with thin super glue and saw dust.
