SeaBuckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) is a shrublike plant, that originates from Nepal, but has been spread over nearly all European countries. As it likes sandy and dry soils and tolerates salty air, it is mostly found along coastlines and river banks. The shrub can reach up to 56 meters height, but very often is found at far lower heights. The bright orange berries are used in a multitude of ways for food purposes. The wood is quite beautiful with light yellow sapwood and rich to dark golden brown heartwood. It works very well and is dense, medium weight, and durable. Its grain is narrow and beautiful. Under the bark possibly some old insect infestation, worm damage.
