Karelian curly birch, also called karelian masur birch (Betula pendula var. carelica) comes from northeastern Finland and Russia, where this rare wood is highly appreciated and sought for. The attractive irregularity in structure only appears in a few logs among hundreds normal figured birch trees and is highly prized by scandinavian artisans. Usually the logs are quite short and thin. Due to its rarity the wood is paid by weight. These pieces are beautifully spalted, the variety of colours, patterns and lines are infinitely and most attractive! You will get the depicted blank.
