Cherry trees (Prunus avium) grow nearly all over Europe, they were introduced from Asia Minor by the Romans. Primarily in demand for its delicious and tasty fruits, cherry trees also became a favorite of woodworkers and their clients due to the wood's superior look and properties. The colour deepens from pale yellowish red with darker heartwood to a brilliant, warm and characteristic reddish brown, sometimes almost mahogany-like colour with strong luster when exposed to the sun.The wood cuts, stains and sands beautifully, which makes it a hobby wood of choice. It takes perfect polish due to it's extremely dense and narrow grain. It is a pleasure to work with this wood and has become an all-time favorite of many woodworkers.Sample photos, actual pieces may differ.
