East African Cedar (Juniperus procera) is a member of the cypresses family and grows mainly around Mount Kenya. It is the only cedar tree growing in tropical regions of the south. The wood is very beautiful, light weighted but extremely durable and-as all cedars- very pleasant smelling when working on it. The wood is well suited for musical instruments and works of art, its colour is golden yellow to red tones, always straight lined and it has nearly no knots. This wood is used for flute parts and other musical instruments!
