Rb077 Black Locust Burl 545 x 125 x 20 mm

Black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) was originally native to the south eastern United States, but has been spread to nearly all European and Asian countries since the 16th century. The burls of black locust trees are very hard and durable, extremely fine figured yet seldom used for fine woodworking. Black locust wood has the lowest shrinkage, is highy durable, thus the timber may be safely used for all external purposes without any chemical preservatives. It is hard, flexible and dense and shows a unique yellowish-green colour and fine grain texture. Burls from black locust trees have the finest figured and densest wood from all burls.
You will get the depicted blank.

Small holes, hairline cracks, gum pockets and bark inclusions as common with all burls may be filled easily and quick with thin super glue and saw dust.
