Ash (fraxinus excelsior) trees are found in most parts of Europe, growing to be very large. Ash burl wood is swirly cream-coloured with burls and very attractive curly structure. Ash is a very hard and dense wood, yet quite flexible. Aged and mature trees develop a nice brown heartwood that resembles olive wood (Olive-ash). It is a pleasure to work with this wood and thus it has become an all-time favourite of many woodworkers.
This wood comes from antique Biedermeier furniture and has darkened colour all through.
