|
| The pear tree (Pyrus communis) is common to nearly all regions of middle Europe, its wood its one of the most beautiful domestic timbers. The trees grow rather big, 15 m height and 80 cm diameter are not unusual. The exceptionally fine, smooth and even texture make this wood ideal for all fine woodworking, it is perfect for carving, turning, small ornamental objects and one of a kind designer furniture. The colour is bright golden yellow to light brown, when steamed it takes on a brighter pink colour. Quite often beautiful figures as fiddleback, mottled and a violet black "false heartwood" make the wood even more attractive! |
