African Padauk (Pterocarpus soyauxii) comes mainly from Western Africa/ Cameroon and is well known to the European market for more than 50 years. The wood is hard, dense, heavy and shows a vibrant bright red colour, that is always a surprise by its clear, fresh and brilliant appearance! Due to its great tonal qualities (Padauk has a very bright and sustaining sound) it is used for a lot of musical instruments and for fine turned objects. The wood works very well and its bright colour should be protected against ultraviolet rays.
